Spotify Premium in Nepal: Is It Worth It, and How to Pay with eSewa

Ottsewa Team · 5 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

Spotify launched in Nepal in 2021, but it still will not take eSewa or Khalti. What the free plan misses, what Premium adds, and how to pay in rupees.

Spotify officially launched in Nepal in 2021, and plenty of people here use it every day. Most of them are on the free plan, and most of them have the same complaint: the ads, and the fact that you cannot simply play the song you want on your phone.

Free vs Premium

If you listen for more than an hour a day, Premium is one of those small upgrades you stop noticing because everything simply works.

Why you cannot just pay Spotify with eSewa

Spotify charges Premium to a card. It does not accept eSewa or Khalti, and many Nepali debit cards are declined even with online payments switched on. People have been asking Spotify for local wallet support for years.

So there are two ways:

  1. Pay Spotify directly with a card it accepts, such as a dollar card. Spotify's own price for Nepal is set in US dollars, and new accounts are sometimes offered a free first month.
  2. Pay a local shop in rupees. At Ottsewa you pay with eSewa, Khalti or a bank transfer, and we set Premium up on an account registered to your own email.

What it costs here

LengthPriceWorks out to
1 monthRs 850one month
3 monthsRs 1,499about Rs 500 a month
12 monthsRs 3,499about Rs 292 a month

Will I lose my playlists?

No. Tell us the email you already use for Spotify and Premium goes on that same account, so your playlists, liked songs and history stay where they are.

Spotify or Apple Music or YouTube Music?

  • Spotify: best playlists and discovery, works everywhere.
  • [Apple Music](/product/apple-music): lossless and Dolby Atmos included, best on iPhone. Rs 2,799 for a year.
  • [YouTube Premium](/product/youtube-premium): includes YouTube Music and removes YouTube ads too, so it is two upgrades in one.

When you are ready, Spotify Premium is here. Download your favourite playlists on Wi-Fi and they will play anywhere, even on the long bus ride home.
