YouTube Premium in Nepal: Family Invitation or Individual Plan?

Ottsewa Team · 5 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

Both remove the ads and both include YouTube Music. The difference is price and how they sit on your Google account. Here is how to choose.

YouTube is the app most of us open more than any other, and the free version knows it: an ad before the video, another in the middle, and the music stops the moment you lock your phone. YouTube Premium fixes all of that. In Nepal you can get it two ways.

What Premium gives you, either way

  • No ads on any video, on your phone, laptop or TV.
  • Background play, so music and podcasts keep going with the screen off.
  • Downloads, for watching on a bus or a trek without data.
  • YouTube Music Premium, included at no extra cost.

Family invitation

Google lets one Premium account share with a small family group. With a family invitation, your own Gmail joins one of those groups. Nothing about your account changes except that the ads disappear. It is the cheapest way to get Premium, and a full year costs Rs 2,299, about Rs 192 a month.

Individual

A Premium membership that is yours alone, not part of a group. It costs more, and it suits people who would rather not join a family group or whose account cannot join one at the moment.

What we need from you

Only the Gmail address you use on YouTube. Never your password. The invitation arrives in that inbox and you accept it with two taps. Then open YouTube: the logo now says Premium.

The one Google rule to know

A Google account can be in only one family group at a time, and Google lets you switch family group only once every twelve months. If your account left another family recently, tell us before you order and we will check it can join. Accounts from a school or office (Google Workspace) usually cannot join family groups, so use a personal Gmail.

Which should you pick?

For almost everyone, the family invitation. It costs far less, and it keeps your own account, history and subscriptions. Choose individual only if you cannot or would rather not join a group.

Both are on the YouTube Premium page, paid with eSewa, Khalti, ConnectIPS or a bank transfer. If music is what you care about most, compare it with Spotify Premium too.
